Badger Comedy stage with comic performing to intimate audience

The tiniest comedy club in WeHo

The biggest laughs per square foot.

Badger Comedy is a black box room on Sunset, tucked between the Comedy Store and the Laugh Factory. Thirty seats. No bad ones.

The comics you'll see here perform at the rooms you've heard of. The lineup includes comics who were at the Store earlier in the week, or will be at the Factory later. They come to Badger for the version of comedy that only happens in a small room.

What a night here is like

You walk in off Sunset. The room is small enough that the comic can hear what you're laughing at. There's a stage, a mic, lights, a stocked mini-fridge. The show starts close to on time and runs about an hour.

If it's a showcase, you'll see five to eight comics doing tight sets. If it's a Punch Out, you'll watch five comics compete in front of three judges and leave knowing who won. If it's a headlining show, one comic you're about to start following is running their room, and you got to discover them early.

Why a small room is the point

Most comedy you've seen on TV was worked out in rooms like this. Specials get written here. Bits that end up on late night start as five-minute experiments in front of thirty people on a Tuesday.

A 30-seat room means the comic can try something that doesn't work yet and the night still moves. It means the laughs land harder because you can hear them around you. It means the comic is performing to you, not at a back wall full of bachelorette parties.

The big rooms on Sunset are great. They're also where comics go to perform material that's already finished. Badger is where you see comics figure out the stuff they'll be performing there next year.
